I am posting with a heavy heart tonight. Or maybe, mixed emotions. Today was a big day for our family. Our sweet Skylar has moved to Shreveport with her mom and step-dad. It is something we have known about for a few months now and have dealt with many obstacles along the way. We have tried to do our best to support and encourage Skylar for the newest adventure in her life, but that too, has been a challenge. Though we don't get to see Skylar each and every day, there was something comforting about knowing that she was just over the bridge and a short 20 minute ride away. Having grown up in New Orleans, and truly loved it, I had always hoped that would be something Skylar could experience as well.
But it goes much further than just the cities that we live in. While not going into great detail, I will say that Skylar's worlds are very different when it comes to being at her mom's house and being at our house. Now that she lives in Shreveport, I fear that gap will only widen. But... maybe I am just speculating and wishing things could be different.
As you can see in the cute photos above, I have seen Skylar come a long way! We have used her "I'm the Boss" shirt as a way of tracking how much she has grown over the years. Not only is she taller and prettier, but she is a super smart and independent girl. I have no doubt that she will handle this move like a champ. She is the most resilient girl I have ever met and I do hope that this will be her greatest adventure yet. Johnny and I have encouraged her to embrace her new surroundings and make as many new friends as she can! Of course, we will still get to see her... just not as much. This will just make our time with her that much more special. Good luck Skylar! We love you and can't wait to see you soon!
